[ Tutorial ] Polymer Clay Buttons/Badges
Hadn't written a tutorial in aagges, figured I may as well write one on these.

My lovely sewing tin was the only clean flat surface I had. So err, yeah.

You will need:
Polymer clay (Aka Fimo, Sculpey)
Some small sculpting tool, like a pin.
Super Glue (You can just press the clay together before baking, but super glue holds stronger)
An oven
For Buttons:
Wire (The wire from the inside of twist-ties will do, or paper-clips if you have the right tools for cutting/bending them. I used fuse wire.)
For badges:
Small safety pins

Buttons:

1. Shape the clay into whatever shape you want the button to be, keeping in mind it'll probably need to fit into a button hole. The 'back' of the shape should be flat.
Twist a small piece of wire into a '-u-' shape. If your wire's extremely bendy you might want to twist 2 pieces together for extra strength.

2. Push the sides of the wire shape into smaller piece of clay, so they're fully encased. Press the side that doesn't have the loop sticking out down flat.
If your not using super glue press the flat side onto the back of the button now.

3. Lather, rinse, repeat, then bake according to instructions on the packet. (15 minutes at 140 seems about right for most brands)
I find it better to bake polymer clay on a sheet of tin-foil instead of a baking tray to avoid getting crumbs in it, and also since it doesn't absorb heat I can take it straight out of the oven without oven-gloves.

4. Glue the loop bit onto the back (if your using super glue).

5. Enjoy your buttons.

Badges:

1. Shape the clay into whatever shape you want the badge to be.

2. Press a small piece of clay onto the middle of the side pin, on the side that doesn't un-pin.
(If your not using glue press it into the back of the badge now.)

3. Bake according to instructions on the packet. (15 minutes at 140 seems about right for most brands)

5. Enjoy your pin.
